Voting for the lesser of two evils should result in less evil. Voting in a way that creates national government gridlock keeps parties from moving their extreme agendas forward which is generally a good thing. Never give one party control of the executive and legislative branches at the same time. The judicial branch is now just an extension of the parties, except one that is not subject to a direct vote and has no term limit.

Surely you know by now that George Will has no credibility in conservative circles any more. He’s a never-Trumper, Never-Pencer, and an atheist to boot. George Will say anything to destroy the GOP–which makes him no better than the dishonest liberal media. George Will is Fake News now.

Most of the time I try to read George Will’s columns. They seem to start out OK, but then about the 2/3 or 3/4 mark, he just goes off the rails and crashes in a cloud of (bull)dust.

Great article. I was reading up on Max Boot since I know very little about him. Under Wikipedia Political beliefs, this is what he wrote on the existence of white privilege and male privilege:
“In the last few years, in particular, it has become impossible for me to deny the reality of discrimination, harassment, even violence that people of color and women continue to experience in modern-day America from a power structure that remains for the most part in the hands of straight, white males. People like me, in other words. Whether I realize it or not, I have benefited from my skin color and my gender- and those of a different gender or sexuality or skin color have suffered because of it”.

I left them during their ’92 convention when they went all in on the culture wars and began tacking sharply rightward. That rightward shift has continued to grotesque extremes, accompanied by an extreme dumbing down of their base and their candidates. I spent a number of years as a split ticket voter but even though I’ve gotten more conservative with age, as most do, I’ve become a mostly D voter. That’s not because I love the Democratic Party — I do not. I will probably take an NP ballot for the rest of my life. But when the choice is an imperfect centrist or a moronic firebrand, I take the former.
