Throw a (spinning) bone

Filed under: Alameda — Lauren Do @ 6:00 am

In a short: where we are now roundup.

Apparently the president of the United States started a Twitter fight with Chrissy Teigan and John Legend.  If you do not follow Chrissy Teigan on Twitter you should.

Then we found out over the weekend that members of the Taliban were invited and then uninvited to Camp David.

Then we found out that Secretary of Commerce threatened to fire NOAA employees who contradicted Donald Trump’s Alabama and Hurricane fixation.

It’s only Tuesday people.

The British Parliament has started the prorogation process in some strange ceremony including a person called “Black Rod” escorting the speaker of the Commons to the House of Lords.

And in a follow up from yesterday’s post:

I’ll have to watch why the split was 4 – 3 but a 3:00 pm close seems like it’s setting the restaurant up for failure.   Anything that leaks over the 3:00 pm close time is surely going to trigger a complaint by the neighbors who are not shy about lodging them.   It would have been more upfront about the goals of these hours to just not approve the use permit at all.

Interestingly enough, this is the same block that houses Julie’s Coffee and Tea which does not seem to have a limitation on its patio use.  It does match with their operating hours which ends at 7:00 pm.

Julie’s Coffee and Tea advertises space rental in their garden patio for up to 30 people (more than what was being proposed for the Spinning Bones site) and if you’re thinking that the difference is in the alcohol availability, well Julie’s offers that service for their hosted parties as well.

  1. Julie’s Coffee & Tea is quite popular in Alameda. So popular, she opened a second location in Oakland. Here’s pictures of their patio space in Alameda:

  2. Lauren you missed the big one. The CIA extracting a top operative due to fear that Trump compromised him

  3. Think it is spinning heads …. isn’t it bizarre that many times my immediate reaction to a real news story is ‘… naw that’s bull …. oh, probably not better check real sources …’ very sad.

And now we’ve gone to whipsawing the survivors of Dorian …

Hope Spinning Bones gets operating and supported. Maybe after a year of operation they can request reasonable hours.

  4. Haha. b.s. story on CIA “informer,” as he was living under his own name in Washington DC. Not exactly undercover as a reporter knocked on his door. I wonder which former CIA Chief is responsible for the “story” leaked to CNN?

Why do people ever listen to celebrities-especially with potty mouths on social media?

    • Satellite picture tells the story. While Spinning Bones and Julie’s are equidistant to the Club House, only the Club House and Spinning Bones are adjacent to the same residential property that houses 5 units. Julie’s is adjacent to another property on the other side of the block, presumably more tolerant neighbors. Julie’s is also walled off, mostly, whereas the other two businesses have direct line of sights to their residential neighbors.

I don’t know where I’m going with this. If you bought a “Bronze Coast” home that’s actually right against several Park Street businesses, that should be on you. As long as the noises stop at reasonable hours and no speakers, then this should be a done deal.

      • Unless the owner/ exec chef of the former Ozumo never got out of the kitchen/office to meet/greet the regulars/patrons/guests at the Oakland bar/restaurant location, he probably has many friends/buddies/pals/amigos in politics/planning/local gov. who he can ask for pointers/advice/help, maybe, in getting something done.
