National Horror Story: RAID!

Filed under: Alameda — Lauren Do @ 6:00 am

Surely we must be MAGAing now right? Between this and a looming trade war, we’re full on MAGAing.

  1. If he had any sense he’d resign right now. He’s accomplished the two things he cares about: ego & money. He won the election and then pushed through a nine figure tax cut for himself and his irredeemably contemptible progeny.

The rest of his term is going to continue to take on water and will sink, it is inevitable. He clearly hates the job anyway.

He doesn’t give a fiddler’s fuck about the nation, only himself, but he can & should save himself by resigning sooner rather than later.

The alternatives are pretty clear: He can suffer the grind of another year of investigation, face impeachment and possible removal and go down as the worst President in history, or he can walk now and spend the rest of his days at a very lucrative Fox News desk bellowing about being the Greatest Of All Time and pressing to reopen the investigation of Hillary’s murder of Vince Foster’s whenever the ratings get slow. And he’ll get to keep his tax cut.

If he had any brains he’d choose Plan B right now.

    • Nah, his predecessor was, by far, the worst president in US history. I don’t like listening or watching Trump but agree with most of the legislation passed in his first term.

      • A survey of members of the American Political Science Association disagree with your ranking of Obama and Trump.

        Comment by Lauren Do — April 10, 2018 @ 8:02 am

      • Obama was no Lincoln or FDR, I put him in the unimpressively average group, but calling him the worst ever doesn’t do much for your credibility. By any measure other than Fox News’ he is far from the bottom.

Trump still has a way to go to be the worst. Hell, GWB wasted trillions on a stupid war and even he isn’t the worst, but if he’s impeached & removed he will most definitely be labeled worst ever.

        Comment by dave — April 10, 2018 @ 8:49 am

      • Hey Cletus, remember that time Obama was investigated for colluding with the Russians and his lawyer’s office was raided? Yeah, worst ever!

        Comment by Rod — April 10, 2018 @ 9:17 am

    • How little you understand President Trump. News Flash to dave: Trump already had ego and money when he ran for POTUS. There comes a point when you get so rich you don’t even notice anymore when you get a bit richer. Anyone who thinks Trump is in office to get more money for himself is delusional. Trump is probably the first POTUS in history who CANNOT be bought, precisely because he can afford to buy off everyone else.

To understand Trump, you have to think Machiavellian.

      • To understand Trump, you have to think like a racist sociopath way out of his element. FTFY

        Comment by Rod — April 10, 2018 @ 9:52 am

      • Machiavelli ! Tha’s rich. Like Trump could read him at all let alone adopt his philosophy. Maybe he inadvertently channels some of his tactics, but it’s dumb luck. Trump can’t be bought because Putin already owns his ass !

        Comment by MI — April 10, 2018 @ 9:55 am

        • Is that you Mark? Thought you were lost somewhere in Asia. Don’t understand why Putin owns Trump…thought your Clinton bitch was heavily invested in know, her Putin button and selling US uranium to show how generous she is?

          Comment by Jack — April 10, 2018 @ 6:29 pm

      • People like Trump never have enough ego or money. They thrive off more.

  4. I am more concerned about the situation in Syria…

    Comment by michonnekatana — April 10, 2018 @ 8:16 am

    • So is Assad, who is facing a Wag-The-Dog bombing campaign by a dullard who desperately needs a distraction.

      Comment by dave — April 10, 2018 @ 8:51 am

      • Like the distraction red line your last administration hero drew?

        Comment by Jack — April 10, 2018 @ 6:12 pm

  5. The FBI raid on Cohen’s office was predictable: our Crook-in-Chief has surrounded himself with like-minded oligarchs, some of whom have already been indicted or convicted. It is only a matter of time… My biggest concern is whether our democratic republic and its institutions will survive Putin’s Puppet. (Not to mention the planet…)

    Comment by Jon Spangler — April 10, 2018 @ 9:07 am

    • Our republic will survive Trump. What it will not survive is a chain of more Trumps. If we are given over to electing reality TV morons or other corrupt and manifestly unqualified goons, then we are Third Century Rome, which barely survived, and even after recovering was only a shadow of its former self.

      Comment by dave — April 10, 2018 @ 9:24 am

      • Third century Rome was an empire. Empires come and go throughout history. Why you pick that particular series of events to equate with what’s going on in the United States in the 21st century is silly.

        Comment by Jack — April 10, 2018 @ 5:34 pm

        • Global superpower with norms and institutions debased sinks into rule by corrupt thugs, holds off discontent through bread & circuses, there are more than a few similarities. Plus the fact that the US considered an empire by many.

I’m sorry you find the analogy uncomfortable, but perhaps that is your own embarrassment & discomfort at having voted for Il Duce. Don’t forget though, you can recant and denounce him.

          Comment by dave — April 10, 2018 @ 6:46 pm

        • Certainly not embarrassed by voting for Trump given who he was running against…do it again in a minute. And why would I denounce a President who is rebuilding the most important department in this Democracy? You know the one that the previous commander in chief refered to one branch as the Marine Corpse.

      • Here’s to flushing the toilet rather than draining the swamp in 2020. Baby steps.

  6. Could we set aside the Trump Derangement Syndrome for a second? Why is anyone objectively happy about this? If Trump’s lawyer can be intimidated like this, so can Hillary’s and Barack’s. And after the release of the Inspector General’s report this month, that is what is going to happen. What this shows is that Mueller’s team is out of ideas. Even if documents reveal an election spending violation, it will only result in a fine but sets a dangerous precedent. If you don’t like Trump, move to Ohio, Michigan or Pennsylvania and vote Democratic.

The FBI I grew up with bugged Dr. King, sent him a letter telling him to kill himself, is still trying to hide the fact Lee Harvey Oswald was a double agent, framed Black Panthers, investigated every civil rights and student organization as being communist, killed Native Americans at Wounded Knee, and led by Janet Reno roasted evangelical Christians in Waco. Is that the FBI you are rooting for?

    Comment by Nowyouknow — April 10, 2018 @ 3:51 pm

    • Because Trump and other Trump acolytes didn’t seem so concerned about due process when they were chanting “lock her up”, were they. It’s more schadenfreude then any happiness. Because karma really is quite a bitch, isn’t it?

    Comment by vigi — April 11, 2018 @ 9:37 am

    • Orin Hatch’s question about how Facebook makes money yesterday was interesting from someone whose job includes getting elected. He must believe in extreme delegation of tasks. As an aside, the term “hacker” is in common use by elementary school aged kids within AUSD. It is used in a cute way to describe a demigod-like person with extraordinary computer skills. Although it can have a roughish connotation, it does not appear to necessarily imply criminality.

      • Are there raisins in the cookies you are describing? Because raisins don’t belong in cookies.

        Comment by Lauren Do — April 11, 2018 @ 10:40 am

        • Sure they do. Anyway, the point was that the kids seem to have the beginnings of a healthy skepticism re what they see on their computer screens. Maybe the antidote to the “Trumpism” we are likely to see in the future.
