Have you no sense of decency?

Filed under: Alameda — Lauren Do @ 6:07 am

It’s not Alameda related at all, but holy shit you guys:

On Monday: Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minister and ambassador

On Tuesday: Comey Memo Says Trump Asked Him to End Flynn Investigation

Also on Tuesday: Israel Said to Be Source of Secret Intelligence Trump Gave to Russians

And this comes on the heels of the Jim Comey firing which happened last week but feels like it happened a million years ago.

It’s now only Wednesday and feels like this week has gone on forever, but MAGA or whatever.

I’m still waiting for the one decent person to quit their White House position in disgust, but I’m not holding my breath.

  1. Absolutely NONE of this surprises me.

-A “businessman” whose only successes have been turning inheritance into passive stakes of assets managed by others. He made money in the 80’s levering up in a rising market (which a random monkey can do) convinced himself that made him God, and maintained that belief contrary to all evidence

-A “dealmaker” who only succeeds when pushing smaller people around, who has flopped when dealing with parties his own size or larger

-A megalomaniac spoiled teenager who howls and threatens when he doesn’t get his way

-An uninformed, indeed uniformable, idiot who literally has no idea of how the world outside his obsequious toadies works. Shockingly ignorant, less knowledge of the world than a casual daily newspaper reader.

Actually, there is one thing that surprises me: that anyone ever supported him at all.

I was having drinks with a workmate last summer, a dyed-in-the-wool Republican. When I asked what he thought of Trump’s candidacy, he rolled his eyes and said “If he wins, he’ll resign in six months when he figures out that he can’t be a dictator.”

Looks like my buddy may have been right, we’ll see…..

  2. Forgot one: brazenly, openly corrupt and so entitled about it that he doesn’t even bother to cloak it

  3. Snore. Nothing but clic bait to rile up this blog’s readership. Just like the City Council, we lose our focus about matters that directly affect the island. Tick, tock…

    • Ah yes, the old: “Alameda as Brigadoon” mentality where nothing actually affects us that happens in the world outside our borders.

      • Your reply was predictable…moving on…

    • Perhaps a lifetime of collecting “paychecks” courtesy of the taxpayers and welfare courtesy of your neighbors has so blinded you to objective reality that you do not realize that Federal spending as a percentage of GDP *dropped* (as in: fell, got lower, reduced, etc). during the prior president’s term.

That meets nobody’s definition of “socialism” but yours.

  7. It’s properly called Trump Derangement Syndrome [TDS] http://www.newyorker.com/news/daily-comment/the-persistence-of-trump-derangement-syndrome

    Comment by vigi — May 17, 2017 @ 9:14 am

    • The article makes the opposite of the point you’re trying to make: “Our problem is not Trump Derangement Syndrome; our problem is Deranged Trump Self-Delusion.” When you stray from Infowars and the Daily Caller, you end up accidentally coming across comments from the educated and sane. Be careful!

      • How do you know the point I was trying to make? The article made my point. You are just a bigot if you paint everyone who leans in a particular direction with the same brush.

So far, I win the day for the most respectable sources quoted: [Time + NewYorker beats mashable & alternet any day]. Lauren Do rarely reads past the source name or the headline, so I wanted to make this easy for her.

        • Splendid! Glad you’re starting to see Trump for the dangerous lunatic he is. My most sincere apologies.

  8. More [real, not fake] news from Russia: http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/russians-fight-ransomware-virus-with-holy-water-27244/

Russian Orthodox priests invited into the Kremlin to sprinkle the servers with holy water. Cf Trump’s commencement address at Liberty University [which was actually quite inspiring-read the transcript before you knock it] “…in America we don’t worship government, we worship God” http://time.com/4778240/donald-trump-liberty-university-speech-transcript/

The conspiracy = Trump + Putin + God vs the evildoers

  10. I think the Russians tampered with the election and France’s also, but it’s simple sophomoric stuff. Maybe guys like Flynn colluded, but all the press is a bit off the mark. What has just begun to surface is Trump’s involvement with some real thuggy characters. It’s not about him doing business in Russia but who from that region has done business with him in this country and his knowledge of their criminal activity, i..e. money laundering. There are pictures of him shaking hands with various dudes and yet he claimed under oath that he wouldn’t recognize them if they were sitting right in front of him. Without regard to comparisons to other presidents or candidates, his behavior is pretty disturbing. We need to see his tax returns. He is a compulsive liar, but is also terrible at it. Flynn said nobody asks for immunity unless they have something to hide and only a few weeks in he is asking for immunity. “lock her up” my ass. But again, I doubt there was any serious collusion, just a lot of careless zealotry. I hope I’m wrong and they all get locked up. Even Mitch McConnell has finally broken ranks and said it would be nice to have “a little less drama from the White House”. Trump’s first visit over seas should be great fun to watch. He’s had enough trouble adjusting to sleeping at the WH.

  17. My language in 10. may have been imprecise. “Sophomoric” referred to method ( 400 lb. guy on his bed) not the impact. The phishing of Podesta’s email was a pretty simple things to do. The impact appears to have changed the election if not history. But as Candide said, “In this best of all possible worlds, all is for the best”.

The Saudis figured Trump out quick. Just ingratiate him with some gaudy gold plated bling and he’s on his best behavior, which he was anyway with the 30 or so businessmen he had along for the ride. His highness, CEO of AmeriKKKa just looked the other way on Saudi’s human rights record, while he signed a deal worth billions, but less than 500 American jobs, but the Saudis get near 700 tech jobs. Ka-ching ! Now all he has to do is see how far his double dealing goes to alienate his new best buddy Putin, and his Iranians allies. Hope he hasn’t pushed too far.

But Robert Mueller may save us yet. He is “special counsel” which is not and “independent prosecutor” but he seems independent enough. And supposedly he’s not a leaker which should calm Trump down but it probably won’t.

Meanwhile we have clown car cabinet to contend with ( Sessions, Pruitt and Mnuchin). God help the planet and our civil rights. When the time comes will they be automatically impeached also ? Nice fantasy. Anyway, Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren did eat Mnuchin’s lunch while questioning him in the senate over Glass Steagall. He tried to claim his answer was so complicated it would take a lengthy explanation. She wasn’t having it. Go madam President.
