Parades, BBQs, mattress sales.  Guess which one I’m skipping this year?

  6. Well they could be laying, not lying, which would be much more acceptable, but when one types in a hurry, one’s computer comes up with some fairly awful grammar!

  7. I was just messing with you, Kate. Lying is the present participle of “lie” which means to rest or recline. But it can also mean telling an “untruth”. Lay, on the other hand, means to put something down, like Lauren always “lays” her BBQ down when she lies on her new mattress…or something like that.
