Quickly, the Teacher’s Union voted for the tentative agreement yesterday so that means the only thing keeping AUSD from having an executed contract is the vote by the School Board next week. Yay!
I don’t know if you all have been tracking the Target construction, but today, according to Catellus, they will be starting their wall panel lift, which essentially means what it sounds like. The walls will be going into place so you can start to see what the actual building will look like. The work is supposed to take place over five days so if you don’t catch it on Friday this weekend will be a great time to see some serious construction take place.
Oh, I also forgot to mention that in the marketing brochure for Alameda Landing it noted that the other buildings were slated to open in early 2014.
For those that didn’t look at the brochure here are proposed elevations — not yet approved — but what Catellus is envisioning for the other storefronts.
In more Alameda Landing-ish news. The Aquatech Swim School which purchased the old Bayside Pavilion which was located in the parking lot of the Mariner Square Athletic Club is scheduled to open in January of 2014.
In more construction news, Ploughshares (best nursery ever! I’m proud to say that all of our fruit trees are from Ploughshares and all are doing wonderfully) will be breaking ground on a new Nursery building on April 10th. Take a look at what the building will look like:

I am not so impressed by the Target. I know it has a way to go but so far it basically looks an ugly uninspiring big store. I thought to be turned the other way so the front would have been facing 5th St. The other buildings, it is had to say, but I am not impressed by the elevations shown there. I do like the Palm Trees. They were taking about a whole foods…where would that go? Another thing I like is it sort of hides the ugly John Berry Yacht building
Speaking of ugly building, similar to the corrugated steel of the John Berry Yacht building, I was driving to Nob Hill Foods a little while ago and they tore all those dilapidated buildings down on Clement finally…it really opens things up…I wasn’t sure where to turn as I always turned by those buildings. I know they are building houses there, but I have never seen the final plan.

Joe. Every version of those plans (Oak and Clement) have been debated here and Lauren has furnished a lot of graphics. You might try searching her archive using “Boatworks” project and look for them. Also roll back to March 12 blog here, and look for map of Alameda Landing with color code for leased or available categories and you should find the building which it is speculated may have a large grocery.
