A “little guy” that lives in a blue world

After being found in violation of FPPC rules during the whole Rob Bonta recall thing:

David Howard of Action Alameda news and Save our City Alameda and other assorted entities decided that he would take on the FPPC for being “biased” against the “little guy” aka him.  It’s interesting though that he wrote this blog post for Save our City Alameda instead of for his own news themed blog Action Alameda.

It’s interesting that, in his mind, he is the little guy having lodged two of the four listed complaints.   Denise Lai is also a “little guy”, she lodged a complaint against a Hospital Board member.  And, surprisingly, Abel Guillen’s campaign manager was also a “little guy” having lodged a complaint against Rob Bonta during the Assembly election.

I did enjoy the heavily editorialized summaries of the cases, particularly the one about the Hospital Board member where he wrote:

The FPPC refused to take action on a complaint against Dr. Robert Deutsch of the Alameda Health Care District Board of Directors, regarding conflict-of-interest, until it received a barrage of complaints about the matter.

And by “barrage” of complaints he means complaints lodged by Denise Lai, Liz Williams, and David Howard himself.   Sort of the usual suspects when it comes to bitching about the Alameda Hospital.

Then there was this one:

FPPC conducts only a cursory interest into allegations of conflict-of-interest against a City of Alameda Transportation Commission member who also cozies up to developers, and works for a transit advocacy organization that receives funding from developers.

Maybe the “cursory interest” was because the allegations made by David Howard was bullshit to begin with.

Here’s the thing, the FPPC receives thousands upon thousands of complaints from all over the state every year, I’m pretty sure that FPPC isn’t “biased” against anyone, they are just doing their job of assessing every little bitchy (or valid) complaint that rolls through their door and have elected to not be David Howard’s own personal vendetta machine.  I guess it must burn David Howard that the FPPC smacked his hand but refused to do the same against the entities and individuals that David Howard wants punished.

I really really hope that David Howard points his laser like focus on the FPPC though, it should be vastly entertaining for the rest of us to see him tilt at that particular windmill.
