So, I didn’t get as many questions for the Hospital Board. So again, still taking more questions and or revisions and I’ll try to send these out on the first to the candidates.
I’m not sure why there is not as much interest in the Hospital Board, so I had to add a few of my own and make the suggestion about closing the hospital a little less direct.
Describe your overall thoughts about the viability of the Alameda Hospital and its role in Alameda.Under what circumstances do you think the Healthcare District should be dissolved, and what process would you use to determine whether or not to pursue that course of action.- Explain your understanding of the challenges currently facing the Health Care district.
- How does your experience directly apply to the job of a hospital boardmember?
- What are the top three objectives you would would like accomplish
isif you are elected? - What issues have you been directly involved in with relation to the hospital? What was the outcome?
- As an elected official what is your specific role in promoting civic engagement as opposed to staff’s role?
- Who is funding your campaign and which groups and individuals have endorsed your candidacy?
Bonus Question: There are multiple seats available in the races for City Council, the School Board and the Hospital Board. Besides yourself, who will you be voting for in your race and why?

JKW, you can maybe make the hospital go away, but can you make the parcel tax go away? Whether or not we have a hospital in our hospital district, we’ll still have the hospital district and the parcel tax, correct? Same with the proposed sales tax for the city: it was for a period of 30 years, with no provision to end it if/when the economy turned around and we were in better financial shape again. And with the school parcel tax: We are saddled for 8 years with a tax, but there’s no guessing how much more money the state will steal from us in those eight years, so the amount of the tax will probably be woefully short by the end of the term. What, you don’t think the state will again (and again, and again) reduce the little money that flows from Sac to Alameda? Wanna buy some waterfront property?

“we’ll still have the hospital district and the parcel tax, correct?”…..unfortunately, I remember this was clearly stated in all voting disclosures and exactly why I voted NO, yet it still passed; it was never in “the best interest” for ALL of Alameda and now we are all “screwed for life”…!!!

Not. A….
I would hope/assume that any credible answer would address the continuing tax answer.
