Today is the last voting day for the Tentative Agreement between the School District and the teachers union.
Just to review here are the key money elements of the agreement:
- A retroactive 2.5% raise for the 2012-2013 school year
- In 2013-2014, a .75% raise AND a one -time raise of 1.25%
- For 2013-2014 and 2014-2015, teachers will only be required to work 184 but will get paid for 185 days of work
So, based to the numbers we were working off of from the first round of negotiations:
AUSD proposal 4.5% raise over two years 2.5% in year one 1.25% one time raise in year two .75% raise in year two |
AEA old proposal 4.5% raise over two years 2% in year one 2.5% in year two |
|
| Year One Raise | $995,000 |
$796,000 |
| Year Two Raise | $1,791,000 |
$1,791,000 |
| Total | $2,786,000 |
$2,587,000 |
So essentially, it’s almost like the District initial offer with the PLC stipend, only this time you could say that the PLC stipend has been recast as a “one time raise” instead of contingent on participation in the PLC. Here was the initial offers that ended up at impasse.
AUSD proposal 2% raise, PLC stipend |
AEA proposal 4.5% raise over two years |
|
| Year One Raise | $796,000 |
$796,000 |
| Year One PLC Stipend | $500,000 |
n/a |
| Year Two Raise | $796,000 |
$1,791,000 |
| Year Two PLC Stipend | $500,000 |
n/a |
| Total | $2,592,000 |
$2,587,000 |
Hopefully this small change in how additional money is distributed will be enough to get the number of votes necessary to move this tentative agreement to a permanent one. Let’s hope there is good news to share at the end of today.
