After I looked at the list yesterday, I did notice that it seemed like there were some contributions missing. And the only reason I remembered was that in the back of my head I recalled that Bill Schaff had made some early contributions to some candidates and I didn’t recall typing his name down for yesterday’s list.
But first, Tracy Jensen had a few additions to her expenditure list, which was uploaded yesterday.
Tracy Jensen
- Non itemized contributions (less than $100): $359
- Contributions less than $250
- Chris Jensen
- Nate Miley for Supe
Then there were a whole lot of contributions made to Frank Matarrese and Rob Bonta before the first “official” expenditure reports for the November election were due, so they were reported in the summer. Marie Gilmore and Lena Tam were others than had more modest contributions during this period.
And in other campaign finance news, John Knox White over on In Alameda has posted a table that details the percentage of contributions that were over the $250 limit. Much in the same vein that I changed my itemization breakdown from $300 to $250, JKW tracked the percentage that exceeded that limit as that was the arbitrarily selected amount that was going to go toward campaign finance reform.

And, of course, there is anti-developer Beverly Johnson’s $10,000 contribution from Ron Cowan of Doric Development.
He made that contribution to her failed run for supervisor but she rolled it over when she decided to run for City Council.
No wonder Doug deHaan did not want to push for a vote on the Mif Albright course when only three council members were present last week. He was certain that the Mif would have lost, 2-1…

Who says Johnson is anti-developer? Is it possible it depends on the developer? Just saying.

@3. Hey, I hear you had $0 in contributions??? Too bad your fellow AAN lemmings didn’t contribute even a single $ to a losing cause.

Michele Ellson posted an excellent editorial on the subject of SunCal and their interference in our election. She suggests that we make our feelings known by calling SunCal directly at(949)777-4000), or their campaign consultant, Gilliard Blanning at (916) 626-6804:
The Island Comments: Enough is Enough.
“Taxpayer Network and SunCal have spent unknown sums of money playing dirty politics with Alameda’s election.
Call them at (916) 626-6804 or (949) 777-4000 and tell them to stop wasting our time with their mailers, tricks and TV ads

How many ballots can Suncal place in the ballot box. I placed three in, I’ll bet that’s three more than Suncal can.

Jack, sounds good as long as you only signed one. You did only sign one???
Comment by John piziali — October 27, 2010 @ 12:49 pm
#6 Wow you’re lucky, I only got to vote *once*.
Comment by Dan Wood — October 27, 2010 @ 2:13 pm
Vote early and often, just use an alias or initials as posters do here. And now there’s a SunCal TV ad attacking Johnson and DeHaan for lack of transparency, but we can be sure that the Sunshine Boys/Girl aren’t responsible, perhaps benefitting, but we know they will now attack SunCal for running these tricky dicky ads!
Comment by Dennis Green — October 27, 2010 @ 2:49 pm
I think the whole transparency thing is a smoke screen

If you want to know more about money and politics, the League of Women Voters of Alameda will offer a presentation November 4 at the Alameda Free Library:
“Illuminating the Connections Between Money and Politics”
WHERE/WHEN: Alameda Free Library, 1550 Oak Street, Alameda, on Thursday, November 4, at 7:00 p.m.
MAPLight.org’s Deanna Dalton will describe the work of MAPLight.org, a nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization that provides citizens and journalists with the transparency tools needed to shine a light on the influence of money on politics. MAPLight.org offers these tools at no charge.
MAPLight.org combines data on political contributions from its partners, the Center for Responsive Politics and the National Institute on Money in State Politics, along with government records and its own research, to track political contests at the national level and in California,
MAPLight.org California’s web site “reveals campaign contributions to Assembly Members and Senators in the California State Legislature. We show how much interest groups like gas and electric utilities or attorneys and law firms contribute to your representatives in Sacramento.”

Jon, I didn’t know you do robo posts.
Comment by Jack Richard — October 27, 2010 @ 6:11 pm
Well, Jon has written a letter to the Sun, endorsing the SunCal Slate, while feigning impartiality, posted two letters here from Desert Valley council members (one convicted of conflict of interest) dissing Anne Marie Gallant, and cannot be trusted to be either honest or fair. As a public figure, a former “Advisor” to SunCal, he cannot be trusted, but pretends to be so.
And hisnwife Linda just parrots his views. LOL, and that is NOT my ass sucking air!
Comment by Dennis Green — October 27, 2010 @ 6:28 pm
And now he’s making robo posts! Just makes one wonder where he learned the kind stuff that’s makes the voters in this town upset. And he espouses ‘shedding light’! The very idea!
Comment by Jack Richard — October 27, 2010 @ 6:43 pm
If Jon Spangler could at least acknowledge his mistakes, he would regain ten percent of the credibility that he has lost in the past few months. But his biases are so obvious that his errors just conform to his personal views until he looks ridiculous. And now his hero, Mr. Calthorpe, a lousy urban planner and even worse architect, is doing videos that must embarrass Jon. Cast iron ego? Or simply dense?

Lauren may have to go back further than summer to get all the contributions listed.
