The new school in the Bayport community needs a new name. As the Alameda Unified School District has decided to consolidate several elementary schools in the West End of Alameda, the planned name of Woodstock is no longer a viable one. So, through an open process, Alameda residents were able to submit possible names for the new school within certain parameters. The newly formed School Consolidation Committee presented their top three choices for the new school name, and they are:
- Ruby Bridges Elementary School
- Shirley Chisholm Elementary School
- Rosa Parks Elementary School.
